{"id":14,"date":"2017-05-17T22:31:44","date_gmt":"2017-05-17T22:31:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kreklewetz.com\/gbmaware\/?page_id=14"},"modified":"2026-05-11T00:32:34","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T00:32:34","slug":"information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.kreklewetz.com\/gbmaware\/information\/","title":{"rendered":"Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Glioblastoma (GBM) (previously known as glioblastoma multiforme) is the most common primary brain tumour in adults, with an incidence of 4 per 100,000 people in Canada according to the Brain Tumour Registry of Canada. GMBs fall into the category of grade IV astrocytomas, arising from mutated glial or neural stem cells. GBMs are particularly invasive, aggressive, resistant to treatment, and almost universally fatal, with an average life expectancy of approximately 14 months.
